Eric has lived in Spruce Grove and taught in Parkland School Division for the past 30 years. For a total of 36 years, he has served the educational community as a teacher (Grades 3-9), in Fort McMurray, Stony Plain, and Spruce Grove; fourteen of these years were in school administration.
Eric has a strong supportive family, including his wife, Jane, and 2 married daughters, Lisa and Alison. Both daughters had a positive K-12 educational experience in Spruce Grove and have gone on to professional careers.
One of Eric's priorities as Public School Trustee is to promote a positive learning environment that has the capacity to meet the needs of all children within Parkland School Division.
A second priority includes the facilitation of a successful solution to the high enrolment congestion in some of our schools through positive dialogue with the community and provincial government.
Eric strongly encourages open lines of communication with the public in face of the potential changes in program delivery and governance being discussed in the "Inspiring Action on Education" document. He wants to use his experience to evaluate and ensure that any proposed changes are in the best interest of the students, teachers, and the greater community within Parkland School Division.
