"We recognize that when parents are actively involved in their child's education it leads to improved student learning," said Education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk. So, he is establishing a provincial Parent Advisory Council to create a stronger voice for parents in the education system.
Parent Advisory Council
This new council means parents have another opportunity to contribute their ideas and perspectives about education to the provincial government. The council will consist of 20 parents of different backgrounds and perspectives from across Alberta. They will engage with other parents to share information and solicit feedback on education priorities. They will also meet with the minister a few times each year to share their thoughts about what they have heard at the local level.
