Assistant Principal Appointments 

 

Kulbir Dhaliwal, Assistant Principal, Greystone Centennial Middle School

Rising through the ranks, Kulbir Dhaliwal will assume the role of Assistant Principal at Greystone Centennial Middle School.

“Mr. Dhaliwal’s qualifications for an Assistant Principalship are embedded in his experiences as a classroom teacher, professional development facilitator, school math lead and most recently his appointment as Acting Assistant Principal,” states Superintendent, Mary Lynne Campbell. “Mr. Dhaliwal continues to foster positive working relationships by building trust with students, teachers, parents and other school staff.”

Dhaliwal began teaching with Parkland School Division in April 2003, teaching junior high mathematics, physical education and multimedia options at Woodhaven Middle School. With the opening of Greystone Centennial Middle School in September 2005, he transferred schools where he has remained since. Dhaliwal has been responsible for the implementation of the new math curriculum, has set direction for the school in terms of professional development and has been an integral part of technology implementation, technology skills and leadership in the application of technology. Outside of the classroom, Kulbir has coached and refereed basketball throughout his entire tenure with PSD.

Dhaliwal earned his Bachelor of Education in 1999 from the University of Alberta, majoring in Career and Technology Studies – Business Education with a minor in Mathematics.

"I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to learn and grow with staff, students, and parents at Greystone Centennial Middle School,” says Kulbir. “I look forward to the work ahead with Greystone's continued focus on 21st century learning through an inquiry driven approach."

Darren Moric, Assistant Principal, Millgrove School

Darren Moric will team up, as Assistant Principal, with Principal Gail Ferguson at Millgrove School.

“We are fortunate to have Darren joining the administrative staff of Millgrove School,” says Mary Lynne Campbell, Superintendent of Schools. “Given his past experiences as an educator, his ability to build strong relationships and his commitment to professional growth, Darren is a welcome addition to our leadership table in his official role as Assistant Principal.”

Moric began his teaching career in 1999 at A.E. Cross School in Calgary, where for 8 years his roles included special education, learning and literacy teacher, humanities, sports medicine and social studies curriculum leader, to name a few. He joined the Parkland team in 2007 as a middle years teacher at Muir Lake School, during which time he has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in the area of curriculum development.

Moric holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and a Business Diploma from NAIT.

“I am excited to have this opportunity to serve the students of Millgrove School, and I am very much looking forward to joining and getting to know the Millgrove School community,” says Moric. “In my new role as the Assistant Principal, I am passionate about meeting the needs of the 21’st century learner and creating vision for the citizens of tomorrow. I am a strong advocate for meeting the diverse learner’s needs and empowering teachers at providing the best learning environment where students continually grow together with a vision for the future.”

Jesse McLean, Assistant Principal, Stony Plain Central School

Jesse McLean will join the leadership team at Stony Plain Central School as Assistant Principal.

“McLean is characterized by a desire to learn and excel, to motivate and encourage, to guide and inspire,” says Mary Lynne Campbell, Superintendent of Schools. “These attributes, combined with his ability to adapt to challenging and changing situations will be of tremendous benefit to staff and students at Stony Plain Central School.”

Jesse began his teaching career with the Golden Hills School Division, teaching at both Drumheller Composite High School and Drumheller Outreach School, from 2002 - 2007. In October of 2007, he joined the Parkland School Division team as a teacher at Stony Plain Central School, teaching Grade 9 social, physical education and math, along with Grade 8 & 9 K & E programming. Throughout his teaching career, McLean has been active in coaching basketball, volleyball, badminton and track.

In 2002, McLean earned a Bachelor of Education degree, from the University of Victoria, with a major in Physical Education and minor in Biology Sciences.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to take on this new role, while continuing to work with all of the great staff, students and parents at Stony Plain Central, says McLean. “I believe strongly in the direction of both Stony Plain Central School and Parkland School Division, and I hope to continue building strong relationships with all of the members of our school community.”
