Board Meeting Highlights - May 3, 2011

The Board of Trustees is pleased to provide you with the highlights of our recent Board meeting held on Tuesday May 03, 2011. The adopted minutes will be available on the PSD website following the next Regular Board meeting.

Upcoming Trustee Activities:

• Board of Trustees look forward to attending the last Student Advisory Committee meeting for this school year and hosting a BBQ for the students
• On May 19, 2011 the Board of Trustees and Senior Executive will be joining Spruce Grove Composite High School Grade 12 students and their families as they celebrate the “Senior Class Commencement”
• Board of Trustees will be hosting an afternoon event, Friends of Parkland – “Celebrating Agency Involvement” – an opportunity to recognize outside agencies that support students in Parkland School Division
• Trustees and Senior Executive will the attending the Spring Meetings of the Alberta School Boards Association and the Public School Boards’ Association of Alberta, to be held in Red Deer
• Chair Gilchrist will be attending the Canadian Association of School Administrators Conference to be held July 7th – 10th, 2011 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Updates:

• The Board appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) as the Division auditors for the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years.
• The Board approved the Three Year Capital Plan
• The Board of Trustees approved three Division Priorities that will be reported on in the 2011-2012 Education Plan. They are:
  1. Developmentally responsive curriculum and effective assessment
  2. Citizenship and Social Responsibility
  3. Strategic system planning
• The Board of Trustees thanked Superintendent Monds and the Service Awards committee, lead by Deputy Superintendent Wilkins, for their hard work in planning and presenting the 2011 Service Awards held April 28, 2011
• The Board of Trustees reviewed results from the 2010-2011 Satisfaction Survey

Reports:

• Accepted the monthly Financial Report ending March 31, 2011
• Accepted 2011-2012 Budget Assumptions
