Parkland School Division’s Superintendent of Schools, Tim Monds is proud to announce that Leah Andrews has been appointed Director of Learning Services effective immediately. As Director, Ms. Andrews will lead the coordination of supports and services provided to schools, including Student Services, Curriculum and Action on Inclusion.
Ms. Andrews began her career in 1992 at High Prairie Elementary School teaching ECS and Grades 1 and 2. In 2003 she joined the AISI Team with the High Prairie School Division as a Lead Learner. Ms. Andrews joined Parkland School Division in 2008 as a Curriculum Facilitator followed in 2010 being appointed Acting Director, Learning Services.
Ms. Andrews has a diverse educational background. She earned her Bachelor of Education degree specializing in Elementary Education in 1991 and in 2006 earned her Master of Education in Educational Studies, Leadership and School Improvement. Ms. Andrews’ continued desire to learn and grow has been demonstrated time and time again. She holds certificates in Franklin Covey’s Leadership: Great Leaders, Great Teams, Great Results, the Speed of Trust and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. More recently, she has attended many sessions around Alberta Education’s Action on Inclusion and is excited about the possibilities this initiative holds for the students of Parkland School Division.
In reflecting on her appointment as Director, Learning Services, Ms. Andrews states, “I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the Learning Services Team, a talented, knowledgeable and dedicated group of individuals, each of whom I value. It will be an exciting journey as we continue to support school communities in implementing Alberta Education’s initiatives and Parkland School Division’s priorities.”
