Speak Out Alberta Recruiting Students for the Minister's Student Advisory Council

The Speak Out – Alberta Student Engagement Initiative is recruiting students to participate on the 2011-2012 Minister's Student Advisory Council.

The application deadline is fast approaching and Alberta Education would greatly appreciate your assistance in distributing this information to eligible students in your district.

The Council consists of 24 youth, ages 14-19, from across Alberta. The Council's term is for one year beginning in September. Council members:

  • Are ambassadors for Speak Out in their schools and communities!
  • Are active on the Speak Out website discussion boards and blogs.
  • Host a Speak Out Forum using the DVD Toolkit in their school
  • Meet with the Minister of Education a few times each year to share their perspectives on education.

They will also receive media training, public speaking and facilitation training and other leadership opportunities.

With 200,000 youth from Grades 9-12 in Alberta, it's a huge opportunity to take a leadership role to ensure the student voice is heard and considered in the activities and initiatives of our province’s education system.

Visit the Speak Out – Alberta Student Engagement Initiative web page  to find out all of the details about the application process. The deadline to apply is May 27, 2011.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
