Online Resource Addresses Issues of Cyberbullying and Privacy
Alberta students now have access to an additional online resource to help them contribute to caring, respectful and safe learning environments and communities.
The new MyWorld online resource includes information on safe use of the Internet for all schools with students in grades 9-12. Features of the resource include simulation of popular online sites, information on cyberbullying, recognition of hate speech, online marketing ploys and privacy protection.
Alberta Education has licensed Media Awareness Network’s MyWorld resource for Grades 9 to 12 students. MyWorld contains information on authenticating online information, reputation and privacy management, dealing with online relationships and ethical use of the Internet.
This resource can be accessed by Alberta teachers and students, at no charge, until August 31, 2013. More information on Passport to the Internet and associated Media Awareness Network Resources is available here.
