Trustees & Students Dance in Aboriginal Day Celebrations

Fun was had by all at Memorial Comp's Aboriginal Day celebrations on June 15th!  More than one hundred students came out at lunch to watch traditional dancing and singing courtesy of the Yellow Ribbon Dancers and Blackstone Singers.  Parkland trustees Irene Goebel, Ron Heinrichs and Eric Cameron were also in attendance, and danced alongside Memorial students in a particularly memorable performance.  The entire celebration was full of joy and energy as well as traditional wisdom.  Dancer and storyteller Rocky Dumais recounted lessons from his Elders and spoke to a group of graduating Paul Band students about their importance.  The afternoon ended with an Eagle Feather ceremony honouring these graduates.

In all, the celebrations were a great success!  Thank you to all who attended!
