Specialized Support Services Program

Specialized Support Services offer a variety of low-enrolment, specialized educational settings, which allow students with similar needs to be grouped together so that opportunities for effective instruction can be maximized. Despite these groupings, each child's needs within this setting are highly individual and will be served through an "Individualized Program Plan" (IPP).

Each specialized program is based on a team approach, consisting of parents, teachers, educational assistants, therapists, and the Special Needs Coordinator.

Supportive services from school-based staff in the areas of occupational therapy; physical therapy and community support work are available to students as needed. Speech-language therapy services are accessed through Alberta Health Services using their referral / prioritization system.

Children in this program must be eligible for Alberta Education Program Unit Funding.

The Specialized Support Services Program is located at École Broxton Park School and Blueberry School.
