STEPS is a specialized program for students who demonstrate severe-profound developmental delays in many areas. Severe-profound cognitive delay will be present and is typically accompanied by associated delays in language, motor skills, and self-help skills. Many of these students also present with physical and/or medical needs.
The focus of the program is on the development of functional communication skills (verbal and/or non-verbal), gross / fine motor development, sensory experiences, and practical living / recreation skills.
Students are served in a small class setting, usually with a staff /student ration of 2:1 - dependent on the student's needs
