Our School

Connections For Learning (CFL) works to meet the needs of each student, Grades 1 - 12, within our care. Before deep learning can occur, we must ensure that we build strong relationships with our learning community so that all students feel safe, cared for, and that their ideas will be respected. To support student learning, individualized programs are created for students in all of our programs to allow them to flourish in their areas of strength and to be supported in areas of growth.

Flexibility is an important component of the programming at CFL. Some programs have required full time attendance, while other programs are part-time on site and part-time at home, and others are fully off-site. Families are supported by teachers via workshops, appointments, telephone, and email when assistance is required.

We believe that all stakeholders can be leaders (students, staff and parents), and with this goal in mind, we find different ways to encourage all to find their passion and share their love of lifelong learning. Programs such as “Leaders Changing the Future" help us work towards our goals of leadership, while also enabling all students to be respectful and responsible global citizens. Working as a school community will give us the opportunity to enable all students to become leaders in success. The power of many is more than the few.

CFL is a “Nut Aware” School

Medical Danger - Severe Allergic Reactions

Some of our students have life-threatening allergies to nuts. The only way to ensure a safe environment for these children is to make our school Nut-Aware. To do this we need everyone's co-operation.

Please check the ingredients of all foods your children bring to school. Coconut is not a nut and does not pose any risk.

In a classroom setting, cross-contamination is one of the greatest risks for someone with this type of allergy. Cross-contamination is when a few crumbs from one child's snack are dropped and then touched by an allergic child. Even a small amount can cause a reaction or even kill.

It is difficult at the best of times to get children to eat healthy snacks, however, we hope you will appreciate the seriousness of this condition and that you will assist us at the school in our efforts to create as safe an environment as possible. With your co-operation we can minimize the risk of an allergic reaction.
