School Council and FOELS News

School Council and FOELS Meeting - Apr 2

Our area trustee Ron Heinrichs was not able to attend, however he shared with us that the new education act was not passed. Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to email Ron for more information.

As always, we encourage any interested parents, teachers or community members to attend our next meeting, which will take place on Monday, April 23 at 6pm in the school library. Hope to see you there!

New Facebook Page for School Council/FOELS

We have created a Facebook page for Entwistle School Council/FOELS. Check for updates about current events, or post anything that you feel is relevant to the school. The council has also decided to post the meeting agendas in the front entry way of the school a week before each meeting in order to increase parental awareness and encourage involvement.

Casino Fundraiser

Our Casino fundraiser was a huge success! We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and council members that made it possible. Ali Halabi, Lauree Pohl, Colleen Penner, Charlene Anderson, Lindsey Saddler, Jan & Clark Cruikshank, Sara Leteta, Jenise & Jeff Robertson, Todd & Evonne Hoople, Shannon Laackmann, Stacey Crosby, Kayla McDougall, Julie Kucher, Danielle & Brad Pequin, Kent Johnson, Tracey & Murray Sutherland, we could not have done this without all of your help, so thank you!

We will find out in the next few weeks exactly how much money was raised during this event, and we are currently working on a variety of new playground equipment options.

Spell-A-Thon

Entwistle School’s annual Spell-a-Thon is taking place on April 17, and we have been fortunate enough to receive some great prize donations for the students to work towards.

There will be three age groups, K-3, grades 4-6 and grades 7-9; for each category, every student who gets 100% on the test will get their name entered into a draw to win $100 cash! Big thank you to Stretch Holdings for donating the prize money! Also, in the same age ranges, for every $25 that students raise, their names will be put into a separate draw to win $50! The more money you raise, the better odds you have of walking away with some cash!

The Pembina Playschool is also donating a mystery prize for the student who raises the most money. The money raised during this fundraiser will go towards activities and projects that are important to the students in the three different age categories.

FOELS Donation

FOELS made a donation to the school last month of 30 new folding chairs, 20 new skipping ropes and $125 worth of itunes gift cards for use with the ipads. Thank you to Jenise Robertson for making the shopping trip to make that happen! We will be purchasing more chairs this month, and plan on eventually replacing all of the blue folding chairs in the gym.

Golf Tournament

The annual golf tournament is on Friday, June 8. Our first planning session is on April 16 at 1:30pm in the school library. Anyone who is able to help with this event is encouraged to come!
