Parents

First and foremost we believe that we must place each learner at the centre of all of our endeavours. We recognize, in so doing, that we must focus our attentions on learners within the context of the essential elements of a twenty-first century learner.

We believe that the most essential outcomes for every twenty-first century learner are:

  • Successful learners must develop a sense of responsibility towards their community and society in general and contribute to society and their community in a way that is meaningful.
  • Successful learners must become critical and creative thinkers in order to navigate the dramatically augmented volume and diversity of knowledge and the increased ease of accessing it.
  • Successful learners adopt an attitude that positions them to learn throughout their entire lifetime.

Furthermore, we believe that there are foundational imperatives that must be considered and are integral to the success of our students. In our school these elements include:

  • School Based Support Team
  • School Council
  • Student Groups/Clubs/Teams
  • Student Leadership
  • Community/Agency Connections
  • Collaboration with Other Schools
  • Advisory Programming
  • Peer Learning Communities
  • Continuous Improvement

Parent Perspectives

“Life experiences provide the best learning environment for our children. The student events at École Broxton Park School are widely comprehensive. The staff and student population have managed to bring together all of the multiple track school programs to create a feeling of collaboration in the school.

My children who attend the French Immersion program have been involved in many of these different activities. They have taken part in the 30 Hour Famine along with many other children in the school. This event was organized by the Student Leadership team including students from the Marantha, French Immersion and Special Needs programs. It provided an excellent opportunity to raise funds for World Vision as well as teach my children how fortunate they are to live in a country such as ours. The French Immersion program has coordinated a French Carnival, to which all students in the school are invited. This event teaches acceptance and diversity of culture during a fun filled day of music, dance and games. Along with these two activities students are encouraged to participate in music, sports, leadership and mentoring opportunities. My children rarely return home after a day at school without some exciting news about another interesting project in which they are prepared to be involved”. – Broxton Park Parent

Student Perspectives

“I remember when I had moved here just over a year ago, and I was extremely nervous. But thinking back on those moments, I couldn’t even imagine why I was scared. There are so many wonderful staff and students, and overall peace and diversity here at school. Broxton ROCKS!”

“The best thing I like about my school is that we have three different school types in one building. There are Special Needs, French Immersion, and MAP. I think it’s cool to have that because we can all be together. We all learn from each other.”
- Grade 5 Student

“Honestly, I think the best part about this school is the great up-to-date technology. Whether typing out your L.A. story or researching your science project, these computers can get the job done, and all in good time.”
- Grade 7 Student

“I think the best things about my school are our sports teams. The sports teams let kids who want to be physically challenged or want to try a new sport try it. The coaches have the ability to make us proud of ourselves and our accomplishments.”
