We will be having our bi-annual Spell-a-thon this year on Friday, April 20th, 2012. We hope this will be an added incentive for children to become more accurate spellers, as well as a plentiful fundraiser for our school.
All students who participate will have their name entered in a draw. The prizes are on display in the trophy showcase.
For those not familiar with Spell-a-thons, it involves students collecting sponsorships, studying for the test, writing the test and then collecting funds raised.
In the past PAL (Parent Advisory League) has designated funds to the new sound system in the gym, basketball uniforms and bringing in an artist in residence. Future possible projects are a new playground and supporting bus costs for field trips.
If your child is participating, please remember this is meant to be a “fun”draiser” and is not intended to cause stress! All students will write the spelling test but obtaining sponsorships is optional.
Here is a list of dates to remember:
- March 22—Sponsor sheets and spelling lists will be go home
- April 20—Spell-a-thon test
- April 30-sponsor money turned in on or before this date
- May 1-draw date for prizes
