High Park School will be hosting Student-Led Conferences on
March 20 and March 21 between 5 and 8pm. Student Led Conferences provide an opportunity to celebrate student learning, show growth over time and allow parents to gain a better understanding of your child’s learning process.
During the conferences you and your son or daughter will be cycling through subject centers with a variety of activities, work samples, checklists, exemplars, and handouts that allows your child to share or demonstrate his or her learning. Student led conferences reflect the belief that students should be actively involved in their learning and assume responsibility for the learning process.
Through student led conferences, students become more motivated, reflective and evaluative. They also become more critical in their approach to learning. Finally, it is a chance for students to really be proud of their learning and the assignments that demonstrate that learning.
During the evening, teachers will also provide the opportunity for you to have a traditional parent teacher conference where you can discuss accomplishments and set goals for the final term. Please come to this conference prepared to participate, listen, acknowledge achievements and growth, and ask questions of your child.
Teachers are excited to share an evening of blending the traditional conferences with our Student Led Conferences, where the students share their successes with you.
We hope to see you and your child there.
